A ROYTON school has set a new benchmark for seating standards thanks to the fundraising efforts of its Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA).
But what to spend the money on? Dominique Stusinski, chair of the PTA explained: “One of our brilliant teaching assistants, Mrs Cooper, noticed some of the benches we had were looking a bit worn.
“She spotted the need for a few more to enable the children to have extra seating at break and dinner.”
Spotting an offer for benches at Royton Carpet Centre, she raised the idea of buying some with headteacher, Damian Harrison.
“We, as a PTA, purchased 10 benches on behalf of the school and our caretaker Steve Hutchinson began to build them,” added Dominique.
“This was quite an epic task for one man, especially with all his other duties, but the children were desperate to use them.
“So, we contacted Royton Carpet Centre for a bit of guidance while building them.
“That’s when they stepped into help. The fabulous company has built up the benches a few at a time and delivered them one by one and also removed the other benches.
“This has been a massive help to the school.
“This is a true show of a local company and local parents helping out our school so that our children have a great outdoor space for years to come.”
