ROYTON North councillor Hannah Roberts is urging residents across the borough to have their say on Oldham’s proposed new Housing Strategy.
Cllr Roberts, OMBC’s Cabinet Member for Housing, says the blueprint will help shape the look of neighbourhoods two decades from now.
But residents only have until May 31 to comment on proposals set out in the document.
Set out is how the council intends to ensure the housing needs of people in the borough are identified and supported over the coming years.
It is based around the themes of increasing the quantity and quality of homes, improving neighbourhoods, building the economy, tackling homelessness, supporting older people and creating stronger communities.
Councillor Roberts said: “Over the last few years we have developed excellent relationships with housing providers, the voluntary sector, residents and developers, and many millions of pounds have been invested in homes and services.
“Our proposed new housing strategy clearly sets out our vision and priorities for the next few years and how our neighbourhoods might look in 20 years.
“We want to make sure every resident, as well as those looking to settle here, can find a home in a place they like and at a price they can afford.
“Our housing offer has a crucial role in the economic regeneration of our borough.
“We want to work with our partners and residents to improve the quantity, quality and access to housing in Oldham, ensuring the borough is a great place to live, work and invest.
“We’ve already carried out a lot of consultation work with residents and partners to get to this stage now we want to hear your opinions on the draft as they are important to us and will help shape the final version to be agreed by Full Council.”
