MAKE sure you back a winner at a Race Night in Denshaw to raise funds for the village’s Whit Friday Band Contest.
The event will be held on Saturday, February 24 at Denshaw Village Hall, with the first race at 7.30pm. There will also be a licensed bar.
Tickets cost £5 or a family ticket for £15, and includes potato pie supper.
Tickets are available in advance online: www.denshawcontest.co.uk or on Facebook @Denshawcontest or from any band contest committee member.
The historic Whit Friday celebrations and brass band contests will be held this year on Friday, May 25 across Saddleworth.
The day attracts hundreds of top brass bands and revellers from across the country to enjoy free brass entertainment.
The Denshaw Whit Friday Band Contest began in 1993 and in its first year attracted 25 bands but since has grown into a well-supported, annual event attracting over 50 bands.
Meanwhile, Denshaw Whit Friday Band Contest Committee is looking for help in organising the event and during the event itself.
Perhaps your children or grandchildren doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award could be encouraged to volunteer to help with this important annual community event.
