Man due in court over Shaw house drama

A MAN facing a number of serious charges following a major incident at a home in Shaw last July is due for his latest court appearance on Monday, October 23.

Marc Schofield, 30, from Tameside, was due to appear via video link for a case management hearing on Wednesday, October 11 but declined to leave his cell.

Pleas have yet to be taken from Mr Schofield of Peel Terrace, Dukinfield.

However, a trial date of Monday, January 15, 2018 has already been set for Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester.

Among the charges faced by Mr Schofield are: assault by beating, possessing an imitation firearm, false imprisonment and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Police were called to a house on Pemberton Way in Shaw at 3.15am on Tuesday morning (July 25). The incident was resolved by 5am on the Wednesday morning.

Mr Schofield, wearing a grey sweatshirt, first appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court where he spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He was flanked by two security guards in the dock.

The case was transferred to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for a hearing on August 28.
