Oldham Coliseum brings festive fun with panto ‘Dick Whittington’

OLDHAM Coliseum Theatre’s nationally renowned family pantomime is packed with laugh-out-loud gags and thigh slapping songs for this year’s festive spectacular, ‘Dick Whittington’.

Poor young lad Dick Whittington and his rat-catching cat set off to find fame, fortune and adventure in London.

But the path to happily-ever-after isn’t always that easy and King Rat hatches an evil scheme to get Dick out of his city.

Are the streets paved with gold? Can the cat catch the rat? Will Dick finally get his happy ending?

The Coliseum’s Pantomime Dame, Fine Time Fontayne, is back for the show, after not being able to perform last Christmas following an accident in rehearsals.

He’s joined on stage by more panto favourites including: Simeon Truby, who stepped into Fine Time’s Doc Martens last year, everyone’s favourite silly billy, Richard J Fletcher, and top singing fairy, Liz Carney.

Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s traditional pantomime has been entertaining families of Oldham and beyond for generations.

‘Dick Whittington’ brings fabulous costumes, glitz, glamour, silliness, slapstick and hit songs to sing along to, in a fun trip out for all the family.

It is the only traditional pantomime based on a true subject – Richard Whittington became Mayor of London in the late 14th centuries and there is a statue of him with his cat outside the Guildhall in London.

‘Dick Whittington’ runs at Oldham Coliseum from Saturday 11 November 2017 to Saturday 13 January 2018 at Oldham Coliseum Theatre.

Tickets can be booked by calling the Box Office on 0161 624 2829 or online: www.coliseum.org.uk

Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s production of ‘Dick Whittington is sponsored by George Hill Timber and JD Williams.
