Proud new party in town for General Election

A NEW Proud of Oldham and Saddleworth party has thrown its name into the ring at the upcoming general election.

The party, which is ratified by the Electoral Commission, was officially launched on November 11.

About a dozen people attended its first meeting the same evening where they discussed their manifesto, aims and beliefs.

They said they aim to be ‘local people working for local people’ and will focus on day-to-day issues that matter to residents, proving they are about more than
just Brexit.

They have set up a core committee supported by volunteers who will not have any political agendas.

The party plans to run two candidates in the general election on December 12: Paul Errock in the Oldham East and Saddleworth constituency and Debbie Cole in the Oldham West and Royton constituency.

Paul said: “Oldham is spiralling down and it is heart-breaking to see and we need to do something about it.”
