Read all about it – Local Communications group launches two new titles

THREE years ago Local Communications, publishers of the Saddleworth Independent, decided time was right to introduce a second newspaper title, the Mossley Correspondent.

Little did we realise then how successful the move was going to prove as communities welcomed the return of hyperlocal news abandoned by the large media organisations.

In September and October 2017, the Stalybridge Correspondent plus Shaw and Crompton Correspondent hit the streets.

A slip edition of the latter title, the Royton Correspondent, has since followed.

Our work was recognised at the 2018 O2 North West Media Awards, highly commended in the team of the year (print) and community publication (Stalybridge Correspondent)

Now we are expanding our boundaries once again, using the same tried and tested model to launch two more papers – the Hyde and Denton Correspondents.

The first editions were available from Friday, April 12, bringing the total monthly number of newspapers printed across the group up to 40,000.

Aimee Belmore, Editor in Chief, commented: “We’re delighted to be able to launch two more papers and bring local news to even more communities.

“At a time when local papers up and down the country are struggling, it’s a great validation of our local journalism that we are growing month by month.

“We feel proud and incredibly privileged to bring you interesting and up-to-date news and stories, to celebrate our local area and to hold those in power to account.”

The group continue to operate all their newspapers through company Local Communications Limited, which Aimee founded in 2013.
