CONTRACTORS have completed another stage of the operation to make safe the badly damaged St Paul’s Methodist Church in the centre of Shaw.
Work to erect scaffolding around the Grade II listed building is now complete and last month Oldham Council re-opened Rochdale Road for the first time since February 21, 2019. But part of the footpath remains closed.
Superintendent minister, Reverend Dr Adrian Burdon, told the Correspondent: “The scaffolding is complete and the work to make safe is taking place.
“It is due to be completed by the end of June. But no decisions have yet been made on what happens next.”
Residents have been asked for comments on what happens next to the historic chapel, Submit your responses online via www.shawroytonmethodist.org.uk/contact.html
