THE new headteacher at E-ACT Royton and Crompton Academy needs no introduction to her pupils.

Andrea Atkinson

After 18 months as deputy, Andrea Atkinson has succeeded Neil Hutchinson whose departure for “personal reasons” was announced on November 19, 2018.

Prior to her appointment at Royton and Crompton, Andrea worked as a senior leader and deputy headteacher at Failsworth School and North Chadderton School.

She brings a wealth of experience to the position having worked for Oldham Council for 24 years.

Andrea’s background is in PE and school sport and she played a key role in embedding a PE and school sports partnership in all primary and secondary schools across Oldham.

In her most recent roles, Andrea focused on personal and social development and behaviour.

Her work in these roles has led to improved attendance and outcomes for vulnerable students at three secondary schools in Oldham.

E-ACT Chief Executive David Moran says of Mrs Atkinson’s appointment: “We’re thrilled to have appointed Andrea as the new headteacher for E-ACT Royton and Crompton Academy.

“She has a fantastic track record in improving outcomes for students and a wealth of experience.

“With academic standards improving and brand new facilities opening in September, E-ACT Royton and Crompton Academy is going from strength to strength.

“Under Andrea’s leadership we are confident the Academy will continue to make strong progress so that we can offer the best possible education to our students.”

• On his Linkedin profile Mr Hutchinson is described as “regional consultant” at E-ACT.

• E-ACT is a multi-academy trust responsible for 29 academies, educating almost 18,000 pupils and employing 2,300 teaching and non-teaching professionals across the country.
