Colour of money as Crompton girls raise funds for Dr Kershaw’s

CROMPTON FC showed their true colours – and many more besides – when they ran the gauntlet at the Dr Kershaw’s Colour Blast.

T he Under 17’s are proud to carry the logo of the Turf Lane hospice on their match-day shirts for the 2017-18 season.

And the new club in town is also delighted to have chosen Dr Kershaw’s Hospice as its charity of the year.

The team were represented by: Michelle Cooper (club secretary) Andrea Beverley (club welfare), Hannah, Lucy, Ellie and Emily (U17s players) Nicola, Thomas, Gabby and Milly (family and friends of Crompton FC) at the charity dash over 3km in Alexandra Park.

The group may not have realised what they were getting themselves in for. But all had great fun and raised over £200 in the process.

Angela Higham, fundraising manager at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, praised the football club  for all their efforts.

“Crompton FC is one of several sports clubs we are now working with to promote the hospice on their kit,” she said.

“This year’s Colour Blast – our third – was a fantastic family event with over 500 participants.

“We anticipate it will have raised over £10,000 once all the sponsorship money has been returned – a proud achievement for all who supported it. We had a blast!”
