Comic Con is back at Oldham Library bigger than ever before

OLDHAM Library is once again playing host to Oldham Comic Con and it promises to be as action-packed as ever with a few new moves up its sleeve.

The free event is being held on Saturday, May 12 from 10am–4pm and is open to everyone.

The library will be filled with stalls and superheroes ready for lots of selfies. Forty guests from the world of comics including artists, writers and publishers are scheduled to appear alongside novelists and comic writers.

Fans can attend workshops and even get involved in a cosplay competition.

There will also be free comics available, as well as advice from comic industry artists and a graphic novel launch and exhibition.

Judge Dredd and 2000AD enthusiasts can take part in an hour-long panel with top creators including Carlos Ezquerra, John Wagner and Peter Doherty.

Sheena Macfarlane, Head of Heritage, Libraries and Arts, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming back Oldham Comic Con for a second year.

“The event last year was a great success and we hope the sequel will be just as good. With so much on offer fans are not going to be disappointed.”

Event organiser, Dennis Whittle, said: “Following last year’s success, I was eager to start planning Oldham Comic Con 2.

“From novelists to comic writers, to competitions and exhibitions, there is so much on offer. Fans from Oldham and beyond will not be disappointed.

“If you come along, you will be far from bored as we’ve packed the day with activities and well-known comic guests.”
