A YouTube video to promote the release of ‘Hometown Showdown’ on March 16 highlights familiar shots of Royton and Tandle Hill Park.
It has already received radio airplay and is gaining excellent reviews.
Lyric Magazine wrote: “The single is already a bestseller on Amazon’s Country Singles Chart.
“Fans and critics alike are loving this super catchy toe-tapping country belter of a track.
“Zoe’s vocals are sweet without being sickly and the pop infused production adds another level to this stellar release. Just Zoe is definitely one to watch out for this year.”
Zoe, 22, went to St Anne’s Primary School and then Crompton House.
She also attended a number of classes at Oldham Music Centre, including their song writing class.
Zoe, who takes her influence from Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves and Brandy Clark’s storytelling style lyrics, said: “The song is about home towns and the slightly more sinister side of them.
“Sure, everyone pulls together in a crisis but the rest of the time it’s full of gossip.”
The EP also features a Lori McKenna cover and the song ‘I Love Cowboys’ which is the inspiration for a question Zoe always asks artists she interviews: What’s the strangest thing you’ve written a song about?
Drummer George Latham, who’s worked with Jools Holland, and bassist/guitarist Sam Wilcock who’s worked with Angaleena Presley, bring the EP to life with their knowledge and expertise.
Zoe plays a range of instruments such as Banjo, Violin and Flute.
After an adventurous couple of years, going to Nashville on song writing trips and busking in Bulgaria, Zoe is keen to tell as many stories through song to as many people who are willing to listen.
She has played in venues and at gestivals across the UK as well as performing in Nashville, Phoenix, Sofia.
