Evening of brass and voices for North West Air Ambulance

A HIGH Crompton based choir has been asked to take part in a fund-raising concert for the North West Air Ambulance.

Inharmony, a mixed voice, four-part harmony group, will sing alongside the Leicester-based Oddfellows Brass Band at Uppermill Civic Hall on Saturday, September 7.

The NW Air Ambulance service operates three helicopters and from April 2019 has flown nearly 700 missions.

The service though is reliant on funding by public donations, fund raising events and lottery membership.

Its work has special significance for one of the concert organisers, after it airlifted a teenager to hospital in Leeds following a major rod traffic accident on the A635 Greenfield to Holmfirth road in 2015.

“The family know that without the air ambulance and the speed they got their son to hospital so surgeons could begin working on him, he would not be here today,” explained District Chairman, Shirley Walton, an Oddfellows Friendly Society member for 13 years.

Tickets for Inharmony’s concert with the Oddfellows band cost £10. for members and concessions plus £11 for guests.

For more information call Shirley on 01457 876870 or email Sheila.kendall@oddfellows.co.uk

Tickets are also available at the Post Offices in Uppermill, Delph and Diggle.
