THERE will be fun and games for all the family – especially your four-legged friends – as Bark in the Park returns to Royton Park.
The charity dog show, organised annually by Crompton and Royton Rotary and Inner Wheel, has been given the thumbs up to go ahead on Sunday, September 5 from 11am-4pm (weather permitting).
Last year’s event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic but the 2019 show saw 112 dogs entered in the various classes and almost 300 people enjoy the popular afternoon out.
Rotarian Andy Czakow said: “This year we would hope to increase that number plus we also have few other things going on to attract more people.
“We are not trying to make a big profit but need to cover our costs and more importantly in these times bring some cheer to our local community.
“We are offering local companies a chance to sponsor a class. If you’re interested, please get in touch with Andy 07508 300590.”
The dog show starts at 12noon and registration is on the day from 11am. The classes include:
- cutest puppy (six months to one year)
- most handsome dog
- waggiest tail
- best trained dog owned by youngest person under 16
- most fantastic lead and collar
- prettiest bitch
- scruffiest mutt
- best six legs
There will be a supreme champion and other spot prizes awarded on the day.
Other attractions for all the family to enjoy include a classic car show and dirt factory bike riding for kids. Refreshments will be available.
You will also be able to meet and talk to other local community projects including Royton Park Growing Hub and Friends of Royton Linear Park.
Profits from the event will go to local charities and good causes.
