Find your Mr Wonderful in Oldham this September

TALENTED amateurs at Lyceum Theatre Oldham bring dating to the town this month when they recreate James Robson’s northern comedy Mr Wonderful.

The poignant comedy, written in 2000, follows suppressed Norma’s search for her perfect man, both to find love and to get away from her domineering mother who is on the verge of Alzheimer’s.

Covering a number of difficult subjects which will resonate with audiences – parental reliance, finding love in the modern era and the pitfalls of dating – Robson manages to tread a fine line sensitively and bring Norma out on top, despite failed romances and the discovery that her Mr Wonderful isn’t all he’s cracked up to be!

Director Paul Gledhill is well-known to local audiences and is involved with at least one production per year at the theatre.

His cast includes Joan Duffin, whose comic timing is second to none, playing elderly mother Phoebe and stars Rachel Harrison as Norma.

Lyceum Theatre Oldham presents Mr Wonderful by James Robson on September 20 – 28, startng at 7.30pm (no performance Sunday22 September).
