Former basketball player’s drink drive ban

A FORMER Oldham Celtics professional basketball player has been banned from the road for 20 months after being caught drink driving in Ashton.

United States citizen John Trezvant, 56, of Wingfield Avenue, Wilmslow, was more than twice the legal limit when his Audi A3 was stopped by police on Mossley Road.

Trezvant, who had been visiting a friend in Mossley, had been involved in a crash earlier that night and police spotted him driving with both airbags deployed.

He was fined £120 with £85 costs and a £34 surcharge to fund victim services.

Trezvant, who was from California, joined Celtics in the late 1980s after graduating from college.

After enjoying success with Celtic, he later played for Manchester Giants and Leicester Riders.

Trezvant had been coaching Wilmslow Wizards until lockdown.
