RAY Hill, former Oldham RL commercial manager, has completed the Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for The Ticker Club, a registered charity affiliated to the British Heart Foundation .
Based at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, it supports work at the North-West Heart Centre and clinics across the region.
With family and friends, Royton based Ray climbed Yorkshire’s famous peaks-Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside- as a big thank-you to the heart centre for saving the life of his brother Peter.
‘Hilly’, as he is known to hundreds of rugby league people across Oldham and beyond said: “It was a close call for Peter.
“Thanks though to the love and support of his family and friends and the brilliance of the surgeons, doctors and nursing staff at Wythenshawe, he’s now making a great recovery.”
Peter has now volunteered to be a patient visitor for The Ticker Club and his role is to support patients who are about to have open heart surgery, an ordeal he has experienced three times.
