Imperial Indian is king of curry houses

SIZE may not be everything but when it comes to the Imperial Indian restaurant then think again.

That is why if you still have not booked anywhere for the office Christmas party, need a venue for a birthday bash or are simply looking for a place to eat great food with friends then look no further.

If this palatial and spacious establishment on Victoria Avenue East, Blackley cannot accommodate you, then curry and trimmings are definitely off the menu.

When Royton-based Dara Miah was looking for new premises, he needed little persuading the Imperial Lounge was the right location for his expansion plans.

For starters, the building was well-known in the area and wider community.

Even now, some locals still refer to it as the Toy Box in reference to its former guise as a Toby carvery.

But it offered facilities and potential few rival establishments can match.

“The Imperial is one of the largest Indian restaurants of its kind in the area,” says Dara who previously owned a similar but smaller eaterie in Golborne, near Wigan.“We can accommodate up to 210 covers and it is a common theme for us to book in tables of 20, 30 or even 40 diners.

“We are pretty much unique in the fact we can cater for birthday parties, christenings, baby showers, we have even done a couple of weddings.”

And with a couple of areas capable of being transformed into private dining rooms, there is plenty of scope for prospective customers to choose from.

Diners though need quality service and quality food to go with their sumptuous surroundings.

Weekend service will see around 14 waiters and 10 kitchen staff ensuring guests are kept well fed and watered.

Many will choose from a set party menu ranging from just £12.95 up to £15.95.

There are special menus for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day plus a Michael Jackson tribute night and set menu on New Year’s Eve.“I thought this place had lots of potential and I have been proved right,” added Dara.

The Imperial, situated close to Pure Gym and Blackley Golf Club, is open Monday to Saturday, 4.30pm to 11pm, and from 3pm to 10pm on Sundays.

There are two entrances and a large car park at the rear ensuring all needs are catered for.
