And the couple expect new arrivals all the time as word of their happy group spreads.

The ‘family’ in question are the members of Elite Fitness gym on Grains Road in Shaw.

“All our members call themselves the ‘gym family,’” said Katie, who swopped the commercial estate agency world in 2016 to join Jordan in the business.

“Everyone gets the personal touch. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly atmosphere where you can work out but also make new friends.

“We are here to guide people of all levels of fitness and build up their confidence so they can use the facility.

“We do encourage people to approach us if they want extra help because we all have to start somewhere.

“We don’t judge and want people to achieve their personal goals.”

Elite Fitness is a 12,000 sq ft facility including a 6,000 sq ft gym floor, based in the former Tara Sports & Leisure sports centre.

The vast space is filled with a wide range of cardiovascular equipment including: treadmills, stairmaster, grappler, cross trainers, rowers and tornado air bikes.

Seven staff, including Katie, Jordan and gym manager, Danny Davies, are on hand to guide members through the machinery.

There are also a full range of classes from spin and kettlecise to aerobics and pilates for people to try.

“Jason opened the gym more than eight years ago but it was only in June 2016 when I decided to jump on board after leaving Breakey and Nuttall,” said Katie.

“At first I was going to be a stay-at-home-mum but it turns out now I do a heck of a lot more than I ever imagined.

“I have done my level 2 in gym instructing and I am only a few months away from finishing my level three in personal training.

“We are constantly improving the gym and we believe we offer what you find in a corporate gym. We have got the space, the equipment and the car park.

“And since the Council-run gym closed in Shaw, we are the only one of this size in the area.”

She added: “We are looking to start a mind-set community group. Exercise is good for the mind as well as your body.

“People say they come in feeling stressed but go out feeling amazing.”

Membership starts from £19 per month, up to £27 month. There are separate rates for joint and family membership, monthly membership and pay as you train.
