A blockbusting two-hour show that recreates original Broadway and West End musical hit songs is coming to Oldham this February.
The UK’s longest running musical theatre concert tour will be on stage on Oldham Coliseum, featuring a cast of past principle performers from Les Misérables.
With a stunning finale from Les Mis, Beyond the Barricade features David Fawcett (Valjean), Andy Reiss (Enjolras and Resident Director for the national tour of Les Misérables), Katie Leeming (Eponine) and Poppy Tiernet (Cosette).
There will also be a live band to capture the feel of the original orchestrations of chosen musicals.
Beyond the Barricade was first conceived in 1996 when Andy Reiss and David Fawcett were asked to arrange and perform a series of musical theatre concerts for the MENCAP Charity.
Over three years, the show began to take on a life of its own and Reiss and Fawcett recruited two further Les Mis alumni for the first full UK tour in 1999.
The concert quickly built a reputation for its slick, no nonsense style which gave musical theatre songs a bold concert format treatment, and as if the audience were watching the original performance.
For the 20th anniversary tour Beyond the Barricade looks back on what has been a fantastic period of growth and change in the world of musical theatre.
Beyond the Barricade comes to Oldham Coliseum Theatre on Saturday, February 16 at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £24 and are available online www.coliseum.org.ukor call the Coliseum’s Box Office: 0161 624 2829.
