JANE Marsh’s dream of opening her own nursery is tantalisingly close to realisation.
With 15 years’ experience in the industry, many as a manager, Jane is well qualified to fulfil her ambition.
Within the next month to six weeks the doors at Shine a Light Nursery on St Phillips Drive, Royton will open for all that’s best in early years childcare.
A succession of open days have already created plenty of interest and Ofsted inspectors have visited to provide a registration certificate.
Initial staff recruitment is well on the way to being completed and Jane can’t wait for the big opening.
“I have managed nurseries for a long time but this is my first venture into owning one,” said Jane.
“I am truly passionate in ensuring a high standard of early years provision is available to all local families where the well-being and education of the child is of the utmost priority.
“My aim is to inspire my children and staff to be the best they can possibly be. My children and my team are at the heart of everything I do.“Everywhere I have worked I have developed waiting lists for places, as long as 18 months to two years. This has been due to creating an inspiring and nurturing environment supported by a passionate team.”
The new nursery has capacity for 69 children and is accepting six-week-old babies through to pre-school.
Jane, who has previously worked in the Stockport area, knew her future nursery, situated close to Rochdale Road and Royal Oldham Hospital, was just the job as soon as she viewed the premises.
She said: “I am passionate about free flow play and the availability of the outdoors.
“Each room at nursery has access to the outdoor play area which allows the children to build on their curiosity and learning further. The fresh air supports this along with their general well-being.“More children are being diagnosed with learning difficulties including ADHD and autism. We have created a neutral, calm and inclusive environment in order for all children to be able to feel relaxed and ready to learn.
“My staff team and their well-being is so important to me. They are passionate and driven and they will be valued and appreciated every single day.
“My staff are the best resource I have and will be reminded of that each day.
“Phase 1 of recruitment sees our nursery starting with six staff and Phase 2 will start in the near future. We will have between 15-20 staff at the final stages.”
Shine A Light Day Nursery will offer a number of flexible attendance places for shift workers which will support the local hospital and other parents who have shift patterns. There will be 10 per cent off prices for emergency services staff plus a refer a friend scheme. The nursery will open from 7am until 6pm.
