NORTH STARS Youth Theatre Company is preparing to take audiences way back when with next month’s spectacular summer production of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’.
The company, made up of children and young people aged five to 18 years, has been working hard on the production since January and are in the final weeks of preparations before lighting up the stage in June at the Grange Arts Centre.
One of the most enduring family shows of all time, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Joseph’ is the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Israel’s favourite son.
Celebrating its 50th birthday this year, this sparkling production is a re-imagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his 11 brothers and, of course, the coat of many colours.
The musical is full of unforgettable songs, including ‘Go Go Go Joseph’, ‘Any Dream Will Do’ and ‘Close Every Door’.
Produced and directed by Linzi McCoy and choreographed by Darcey McCoy, the show stars George Denson, Emily Sirrell and Emma Peacock (pictured right in rehearsal with their practice coat of many colours) in the lead roles, along with a fantastic cast involving all members of the Youth Theatre.
Linzi said: “I am so proud of all our children and young people, and all our production team, who are pulling out all the stops to create a fantastic production of this iconic musical.”
The show takes place on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24.
Tickets are on sale online priced at £10: www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/FHEJFH
Meanwhile, the Adult Musical Theatre Company are busy in rehearsals for their new charity concert in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice on Saturday, September 29 at St Herbert’s in Chadderton.
Following a sell-out concert last year, the cast is excited to bring a new show to the stage for this fantastic local charity.
Look out for three amazing West End workshops this summer, which will offer exciting opportunities to work with professionals from the world of musical theatre.
