Oldham Athletic saddened by death of former player Peter Skipper

Oldham Athletic were saddened to hear of the death of former player Peter Skipper aged 61.

Central-defender Skipper, who made 27 appearances for Latics in 1988-89 season, died on Tuesday, April 23 following complications after suffering a stroke over the Easter weekend.

Skipper was a legend at Hull City playing more than 300 matches during two spells with the Tigers.

And Skipper still maintained close links with his home-city club as he worked as a corporate host at the KCOM Stadium.

Skipper also played for Scunthorpe, Darlington, Walsall, Wrexham and Wigan Athletic and made 581 league appearances during his illustrious career, scoring 30 goals.
