LOCAL players John Murray (Royton) and John Punchard (Crompton) have helped Lancashire win the over-60s county championship for the first time in their history.
Lancashire defeated Hertfordshire by 26 runs in the final at Aston Rowant Cricket Club in Oxfordshire.
The over-60s competition is growing in popularity and is now competed for by 30 counties across England and Wales.
To win the trophy, Lancashire won the north section group and three knockout games against Norfolk, Surrey and Roses rivals Yorkshire.
