Royton weather: milder weather returns!

Not for all of us, but for some of us, snow fell on Tuesday morning.

I managed to get up to Dovestone Reservoir to see my first snowfall of the winter and it’s taken nearly two months to arrive.

As this so-called winter has been playing out, the snow was short-lived and most had melted by the time I had walked the 2.8 miles round. The cold spell is over as milder weather returns.

Thursday: Breezy with bright spells and just the chance of a shower or two. Feeling mild for the time of year. Max 10°C

Friday: The Atlantic will influence with a cold front pushing a band of rain through followed by showers. Strong southwesterly winds but temperatures into double-figures, so very mild for the time of year. Max 12°C

Weekend: Saturday looks best.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy to start with a few patches of drizzle. Turning drier with a few breaks allowing some sunshine to come through with a few showers, especially in southern parts. Windy and cooler. Max 10°C

Sunday: Wet with rain spreading in, turning showery later. Remaining breezy and relatively mild. Max 10°C

Outlook: Mild and damp at first with some bright spells and showers. Turning chilly midweek with a chance of a northerly wind developing for a time as high pressure builds. This means from midweek; drier, settled conditions with some bright spells by day and a few patches of fog and frost at night.
