RYAN Grumbridge is the new teaching professional at Crompton and Royton Golf Club.
Grumbridge, who had been professional at Oldham, is heading the academy and junior programmes.
A former professional at Chilli Dip Golf at Breightmet and assistant pro at Manchester and Castle Hawk, he will divide his time with a similar coaching role at Castle Hawk Golf Club.
Crompton and Royton professional Martin Beaty is pushing coaching after launching a women’s academy two years ago and he has a men’s academy in the planning stage.
Meanwhile, this weekend sees the final event in the club’s Winter League.
Since Christmas only four of the scheduled 10 events have beaten the weather in what has been a frustrating time for golfers.
Leading the order or merit since Christmas in the four-man team event format competitions have been Rod Buckley, Mark Davies and Peter Nield. The fourth member of the team has alternated.
They have accumulated 22 points to lead by two points. But with 10 points going to the winning team, there will be plenty to play for in the final event.
