Santa set for Shaw touch down

THE countdown is well under way to an afternoon of festive fun and merriment in Shaw town centre on Saturday, November 30.

Culmination of the afternoon will be the annual Christmas lights switch on at 5.30pm.

Compere for the occasion is ‘Big Al’ with a supporting cast including: Act One Theatre performing Frozen and Oldham Scottish Pipe Band who will open the event.

There will be a Christmas market, free rides on Sol’s festive ponies and a grand raffle draw for big prizes.

There will be a choir and dance group from local schools, St Joseph’s and Buckstones Primary, together with Rebecca Flemming dance school who will all be performing on stage at Playhouse 2.

Santa will arrive via his flashy sleigh at Santa’s Grotto (in the Royal British Legion club) and will be kept busy handing out gifts to golden ticket holders available from Playhouse 2 foyer at 2.30pm.

His mischievous elves will look after Santa’s sleigh and off ‘well-behaved’ youngsters looking after Santa’s Sleigh are going to let ‘well behaved’ youngsters climb on board for a picture.

Plenty of complementary refreshments will be available at Santa’s Grotto Café, Playhouse 2 and Hope Church, Milne Street, the latter providing hot chocolate and craft activities.
