A much‑loved Shaw clothes shop is preparing to close its doors this week after almost four decades serving the town.
Fizz Fashion, on Market Street, has been a go‑to spot for generations of shoppers looking for affordable, fashionable clothing since it first opened nearly 40 years ago.
But the owners have confirmed the Shaw branch will shut on Saturday, January 24.
Co‑owner Elizabeth Jackson said the decision has been an emotional one for both staff and loyal customers.
“It’s sad for everybody,” she said. “We’ve had some very nice customers over the years – there were some in tears in the shop when they found out. They were saying they would travel to our other store in Hyde.”
Fizz also operates shops in Hyde and Wilmslow, Cheshire, which will remain open.
Ms Jackson said wider changes on the high street had made trading increasingly difficult.
Although the Shaw store officially closes on Saturday, stock will remain inside for a short period before being moved. Ms Jackson encouraged anyone who spots staff inside to knock and browse items while they are still available.
She also paid tribute to the community that has supported the business for almost four decades.
“I just want to say a big thank you to the customers who supported us over the 37 years,” she said.
