Shooting stars aim for international success

A TALENTED girls’ football team has been called up for international duty.

Crompton House School, whose Under-13’s side includes a large contingent from Crompton FC, reached the final of the English Schools’ Cup finals last season.

Despite defeat to Essex rivals Shenfield High in the final at West Bromwich Albion’s Hawthorns home, the girls will be one of England’s two representatives at next month’s Home Internationals.

They will join Shenfield again facing the U13 champions of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in the Schools’ Association Football International Board’s U14s Rod Houston Girls Cup at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

The tournament takes place from October 2-4. Teams will play games between each other at 11-a-side which is a step up from last season’s nine-a-side format.

The new season for Crompton FC is now underway with teams kicking off in new kit.

The club charity is again Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Royton and all teams wear the hospice of their shirts to raise awareness of this local charity.

Crompton FC is also supporting Dr Kershaw’s Colour Blast on Sunday, September 22 when many players, coaches and committee members will be joining in the fun.

The club hopes to arrange some friendlies to give everyone experience at 11-a-side before October.
