CROMPTON FC had double reason to celebrate after the North Manchester Girls’ League finals at Ewen Fields, Hyde.
The U10s Galaxy’s and U14s were victorious in their respective finals winning 4-1 and 2-0.
In all, Crompton FC was represented in five of the six finals with the U11s Galaxy’s, U12s Nexgens and U13s Sharks finishing runners-up after losing 1-0, 2-0 and 4-2 respectively.
That represents a great achievement as the club has only been going for two years. In total, seven teams reached the semi-finals showing the progress being made.
Crompton FC’s Chris Leach said: “It was a great occasion for all the teams as the Hyde stadium is an excellent venue for players and parents.
“It made it a special day for everyone and a big thanks goes to the NMGL for organising everything.
“As a club we are proud of all our players, from the four-year-olds in the new Wildcats to the open age team who are starting in the Manchester Women’s League.
“We also have new teams joining us next season which we are very excited about.
“Crompton FC has a great future thanks to all the families and sponsors who have supported us these last two years.”
• The club’s annual awards night takes place on Saturday, June 14 at the Cotton Rooms, Oldham.
• They will be joined by guest presenters teacher/adventurer Steve Hill MBE and Latics’ giantkilling caretaker manager Pete Wild.
Chris added: “Crompton FC has continued its ethos of ‘one club’ by organising a single event for everyone to get together.
“It gives players, coaches and parents the chance to catch up with each other and see every player in every team get their club season award.
“To have these presented by Steve and Pete, both local lads and both well-liked and respected by everyone really, is the icing on the cake and we really appreciate them giving their time up for our big night.”
