A SMOKY truck has been removed from the road after being seized by police officers.
Reports of fumes billowing across Royton town centre this morning alerted the authorities and inspections uncovered several offences.
Among them were carrying a load while displaying trader’s plates and having no current test certificate.
The vehicle was therefore seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act and the owner reported for the offences discovered.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Bear in mind this was being driven through Royton Town Centre on a busy market day.
“We will not tolerate vehicle being used where they are unroadworthy or not complying with road traffic regulations.”
