Returning for its third year, the 18-mile walk, which will be held on Saturday, July 6, will take in local landmarks Indian’s Head, Pots and Pans and Wharmton Hill.
Last year 80 people turned out and raised a fantastic £4,500 for the youth zone, which is based on Egerton Street in Oldham.
The walk begins from The Royal George in Greenfield and will take between six and nine hours depending on your fitness levels – but all will be rewarded by some fantastic views and a great sense of achievement at the end.
Raz Mohammed, Deputy CEO at Mahdlo, said: “I missed last year’s walk and when I heard that the date was set for 2019, I knew I had to be first to put my name down.
“This year we are raising money to help thousands of young people experience the great outdoors, which has an impact on their self-confidence, well-being and resilience.”
Claire Crossfield, Mahdlo’s Fundraising Manager, added: “The event is going from strength to strength. We only ever planned on doing it as a one-off but people just love it.
“You can complete as part of a team, individually or even a relay as a family and some people bring their dogs too!
“The route is challenging but achievable and our team ensures that everyone makes it across the finish line.”
It is just £20 to enter and Mahdlo are asking that people commit to raising a minimum of £30.
Walkers will receive breakfast, a picnic lunch, a post walk BBQ, refreshments along the route and a commemorative T shirt.
There will also be invitations to practice walks, and fundraising support is available such as sponsor forms, social media banners and online fundraising pages.
North Ainley Solicitors have already booked their spot after enjoying taking part last year.
Laura Campbell, Solicitor at North Ainley, said: “It was tough going in parts, but we were rewarded with some stunning scenery and there was a fantastic sense of camaraderie and shared purpose amongst the walkers.
“Despite the blisters, we were all very proud to have taken on the challenge and thrilled to have raised money for such an important local cause.
“We’ve signed up again for this year and I would encourage anyone who fancies it to sign up too.”
