PATIENTS are preparing to see a doctor at Trent Road surgery for the final time.
The High Crompton practice will see its last patients on Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29 before the surgery closes for good on Friday, January 31.
Despite opposition from residents and local councillors a decision to close the surgery was made by the Clinical Commissioning Group on October 24.
The Trent Road site is a satellite base of the Parks Medical Practice in Royton.
Chief Operating Officer, Mike Barker said: “While we appreciate this decision may be disappointing for those patients who prefer to use the twice weekly surgeries at Trent Road, as a commissioner of NHS health services we have to prioritise quality, safety and access issues in the delivery of primary care.
“As all patients are registered with The Parks Medical Practice and can continue to use its services in Royton Health and Wellbeing Centre, they do not have to do anything.
“However, we have put in some dedicated support and advice in place should any patients wish to move to an alternative practice.”
