Buckle up! The Oldham festival of Transport is coming

BUCKLE up for a fantastic celebration of transport, travel and motion as part of Oldham’s first-ever Accelerate Festival of Transport.

With a fantastic exhibition of vintage cars lined-up alongside a parade of motor-themed entertainment, engaging workshops and the return of one of Oldham’s home-grown motoring treasures, there’s something for all.

This event is brought to you in partnership with Oldham Council, the Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club, Museum of Transport Greater Manchester, SpareParts ‘On the Move’ and Gallery Oldham.

Vintage busses 
11am-3pm, Gallery Oldham Gardens

Enjoy a pop-up showcase of amazing vintage buses by the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester. With the likes of the 1957 Leyland Titan, Oldham Corporation Bus and the 1948 Leyland, North Western on show, don’t be late for this one.

Classic Car Show
11am—3pm, Parliament Square

Feast your eyes on an array of vintage and classic vehicles brought to you by the Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club as they return to Oldham for their 12th year. If you’re a fan of lovingly restored cars and classic motors, this will be right up your street.

The ‘Rothwell Car’ homecoming
1.30pm, Gallery Oldham

Celebrate the return of Oldham’s very own Rothwell Car as it is welcomed back to the collection of Gallery Oldham. First produced in the borough back in 1910 by Rothwell & Co Ltd, the ‘Rothwell Car’ is a rare piece of Oldham’s motoring history, so don’t ‘stall’ on this great opportunity to witness a unique item from the borough’s industrial past.

The SpareParts Parade
12pm, town centre

Witness a procession of curiosities, contraptions and musical vehicles designed by artists and local people as they make their way through the town centre to Parliament Square.

SpareParts festival performances
11.30am—3pm, Parliament Square, Gallery gardens and the Parish Church Yard

Spectate on a programme full of the best transport-themed street theatre, dance and music around. With performances from the likes of Grumpy Grandads ‘Ay Up Airlines’ (Greenbank Productions), ‘Drive by Comedy’ (Pemberton & Hague), and Boom Bikes & Bouree (Dan Fox) you’re in for a fantastic day of entertainment.
