Former rugby league star touches down for night with Rotary Club

ROTARY met rugby league when the Oldham Metro club held its charter night at Crompton and Royton golf club.

Guest speaker was Saddleworth-based businessman, charity fundraiser and former Oldham and Great Britain RL star, Terry Flanagan.

Also among the 50 diners were Councillor Ginny Alexander, the Mayor of Oldham, and husband and consort Adrian.

Adrian, until May 2019 councillor for Saddleworth West and Lees, also appeared for Oldham RL after moving from Harlequins rugby union.

Terry, who was awarded the MBE in 2017, gave an entertaining and upbeat talk on his business life and sporting career.

A three-course meal was also enjoyed by representatives from Rotary District organisation and also four local Rotary Clubs.
