Now, a cheque for the amount has been handed over to representatives of the Royton-based charity.

The money came from the club’s sell-out event at the Bella Vista restaurant in Milnrow when guest of honour was former Oldham Athletic and Manchester City star, Richard Jobson.

Sister Kelly Foster and Dr Katie Wadsworth received the cheque on behalf of Dr Kershaw from club representatives Chris Leach and Ady Belle.

• The club is on a recruitment drive for the 2018/2019 season.

Players are required for the U18s (year 12 and 13) and open age ladies teams. There are also vacancies for the new U8s and U9s teams.
