It’s lighting up time as Shaw prepares to welcome Santa

SANTA Claus makes an early appearance in Shaw next month as part of the town’s 2018 Christmas Lights switch-on.

And organisers Shaw and Crompton Events Group has arranged a full programme of activities as part of the annual festivities on Saturday, December 1.

Town Crier Marcus Emms will open proceedings at 3pm with events taking place along Market Street at Playhouse 2 and the Royal British Legion.

Among the attractions will be a Christmas ‘fun’ market (children’s games and tombola) small roundabouts, free pony rides plus entertainment on stage from Act One performing ‘The Greatest Showman’.

School bands and choirs will be performing at Playhouse 2.

Free mulled wine and mince pies will be served from 4pm.

Santa’s Grotto will be located at the Royal British Legion club where children can meet Santa and his elves (3-6pm) and also receive a free gift.

Entry is only by a limited edition ‘Golden Ticket’ available from 2.30pm on the day from Playhouse 2.

There will also be Santa’s Café at the Legion with free refreshments.
