BOB Bouch and Kathryn Doogue weren’t fooling when they decided to open their own conveyancing firm on Rochdale Road, Royton on April 1, 2009.
There may have been a few raised eyebrows at that stage as the firm comprised just two conveyancers and one assistant working from a one shop fronted premises.
Ten years on, Kirkham Legal is one of the most recognised and trusted local conveyancing firms in the Oldham area.
“Some people questioned the wisdom of Bob and I leaving our previous firm and starting our own business,” said director Kathryn.
“But we knew there was a place in the legal market for a specialist company dealing only in property matters and that this was a risk worth taking.”
Ten years on and the firm has changed and grown considerably. It has revamped its image and re-branded to ‘Kirkham Legal.’
Bob Bouch has since retired as a director but has taken on a consultancy and ambassadorial role.
His replacement is Edwina Ashworth, another specialist conveyancer who joins Kathryn at the helm of the company.
Kirkham Legal now employs 15 staff, including six fee earners and seven case assistants. The premises have now expanded to three shop fronts.
Four years ago the firm also started undertaking private client work including Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney. This is now handled by experienced solicitor Daniel Prince.
“We have been able to expand because of the great service we provide to our clients,” explained Kathryn.
“Often they become repeat clients and refer us to their friends and family.
“Our client base is growing all the time, and I calculate we have had well over 10,000 clients in the last decade.
“Our success is based on hard work, our loyal and skilled staff, great working relationships with other professionals, our clients and our commitment to using the most efficient and up to date case management systems,” added Kathryn.
“Our success has also meant we have been able to attract quality people to join the team on our journey.”
Kathryn and Edwina celebrated this anniversary by hosting a private party for all involved in the company. Here’s to the next 10 years!
