A man has been charged following two armed robberies, one in Oldham, and an attempted robbery where a man was imprisoned in his own home.
John Rooney, 50, of no fixed abode has been charged with:
- One attempted robbery.
- Two business robberies.
- Driving whilst disqualified.
- Driving with no insurance.
- Possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
- Possession of a class A drug (heroin).
- Possession of a class B drug (cannabis).
He was appearing at Stockport Magistrates Court yesterday (Oct 16).
On Thursday, October 11 police were called to an attempted robbery on Newbridge Lane, Stockport, where a 61-year-old man had been tied up and assaulted in his own home.
At 5.20pm on Saturday, October 13 police were called to an armed robbery at a post office on Thornham Road,Oldham, and then an armed robbery at a hair salon on Oldham Road, Middleton, at 6pm.
A second man, aged 38 has been released under investigation.
