MICK Nield, leader of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) for 25 years, has been awarded an MBE for services to mountain rescue and to the community in Greater Manchester.

The father of two, aged 51, was head of the Saddleworth-based group until he became their chairman a year ago.
Mick will travel to Buckingham Palace to collect his MBE in the coming months with his wife, Trisha, and two daughters, Georgia and Robyn.
But he will probably have to leave faithful rescue dogs, Bob and Dave, at home.
“I’ll always be Mick of Mountain Rescue — never Mick MBE,” he said.
Shaw and Crompton Parish Council recently awarded OMRT a £250 grant towards waterproof clothing.
