Oldham Athletic’s Peter Clarke has made the shortlist for a prestigious prize at next month’s North West Football Awards.
The 35-year-old defender is chasing the League One player of the Year for 2016/17.
But Clarke faces tough competition from three other nominees: Bolton Wanderers’ David Wheater, Cian Bolger of Fleetwood and Callum Camps of Rochdale.
Latics’ popular former club man, Gordon Lawton, who died in June, aged 63, could be posthumously awarded with the ‘Unsung Hero’ honour.
All awards will be announced and presented at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford on Monday, November 13. The evening will be compared by BBC’s Breakfast Time presenter, Dan Walker.
