Police are appealing for witnesses after an early morning collision in Oldham

Police are appealing for witnesses after an early morning collision in Oldham.

Shortly after 1.15am this morning (Thursday 19 July 2018) police were involved in a collision on Manchester Road at the junction with Heron Street.

Officers were on patrol travelling on Manchester Road toward Oldham town centre, when they were flagged down by a Vauxhall Insignia.

The driver told officers he was concerned there was a car driving dangerously, but before he could finish, a silver Audi A4 was in collision with their two stationary cars.

Everyone involved in the collision was taken to hospital for treatment of their minor injuries.

Enquiries into full circumstances around this collision are ongoing.

Sergeant Jon McColl of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This member of the public should be commended, he saw someone driving dangerously and alerted police to this.

“It is only by sheer luck that everyone managed to walk away with minor injuries.

“It’s really important that we hear from people who saw the Audi travelling around late last night and early this morning, so we can build a clear picture of what happened.

“If you have any dash-cam footage from the time, or know anything that could help with our investigation, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact our Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 128 of today. Reports can also be made anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
