YOU are always going to be spoiled for choice when it comes to finding accommodation in Blackpool.
With hundreds of guest houses and hotels, selecting the right one can be as testing as coming up with a Pointless answer for Richard Osman.
A regular barometer of popularity is bed occupancy rates and a pre-Easter Sunday night might not seem like a guaranteed booking filler.
Just shows you how wrong you can be! As part of an exciting new partnership with the owners of the sea front, Hotel Sheraton, the Correspondent checked in recently for a night’s stay.
Our readers can now make the same short trip to the Fylde Coast to sample the Sheraton’s family friendly hospitality.
The finishing touches to an extensive renovation project were still being made during our visit.
But the fantastic sunset over the Irish Sea and views to the Lakeland Fells were far more eye catching.
So too the number of guests already tucking into their evening meals.
There was hardly a spare seat in the dining room, with guests enjoying the offerings of a comprehensive three-course menu.
Such a large number of diners puts pressure on chefs and serving staff alike.
But there were no delays in service even though our three contrary staff ordered three different starters and three different main meals.
All orders were delivered with a smile and cheery banter.
But five-star customer service wasn’t exclusively reserved for the dining room.
From checking in to checking out the following morning after a hearty breakfast, it was exemplary in all areas.
You can’t have a night away without unwinding with a drink and entertainment.
We opted out of the line dancing but happily paid a visit to the two well-stocked bars and comfortable and spacious lounge area.
Other guests weren’t as reticent, showing off their moves and thoroughly enjoying the live music and camaraderie of their fellow guests.
The Sheraton’s prominent position on Queen’s Promenade, between Gynn Square and Bispham, makes it an ideal spot if you want to escape the more boisterous activities and pleasures further towards the town centre.
But with its tribute nights, wedding and birthday receptions, themed weekends, family fun time holidays, and heated indoor swimming pool, there’s plenty to enjoy for guests of every age.
Eventually though, sleep beckons – and again your bedroom choice is extensive.
Hotel Sheraton has 108 rooms, with another 20 situated in the Sheraton Lodge located at the side.
Guests can choose from eight room types from Standard through to Club Executive Sea View; one of the best bedrooms available on Blackpool Promenade.
Most room types are available as a Double, Twin or Family. A selection of rates will suit all budgets.
We were treated to lovely, spacious, well appointed, spotlessly clean rooms with a sea view. A good night’s sleep was guaranteed.
The only down side? Leaving to come back home!
