IT hasn’t taken long for a well-known Shaw dance group to return to winning ways.
For more than three decades the Suzettes Dance Troupe marched its way to a plethora of prizes.
Former members even set up a Facebook group to recall past glories called ‘I was in the Shaw Suzettes’.
So, there was a sigh of relief from their rivals when founder and trainer, Susan Wild, disbanded the all conquering Suzettes.
But ‘retirement’ was short-lived for Susan after local mums persuaded her to re-launch the Suzettes.
Now, they’re celebrating success at a Morris dancing competition at Pontins, Prestaytn, and there is the prospect of more trophies in the New Year.
“It was great to see the girls get the win because they are so dedicated and work so hard,” explained Susan.
“I had thought the days of the Suzettes were over. But I was asked if I would start up again and it has been lovely getting involved again.
“We have a great little group going now but if any youngsters want to come and join us, the more the merrier.”
Girls aged three upwards can join the Suzettes who train every Thursday night at Oldham St Anne’s rugby club on Higginshaw Road between 5.30pm-6.30pm.
“Our aim is to build a friendly ‘family’ of girls who will aim to win at regular competitions in a fun and relaxed environment,” said Susan.
“No previous Morris Dancing experience is needed as part of the fun is learning something new and making new friends.”
