Top grades and bright futures for Royton & Crompton Academy students

STUDENTS at E-ACT Royton & Crompton Academy were celebrating on GCSE results day as their Year 11 cohort prepared for the next stage of their journey. 

The Blackshaw Lane school welcomed students back to collect their results, with many now set to continue their studies at sixth form colleges across Oldham and Greater Manchester, while others explore apprenticeships and alternative pathways.

Among the academy’s top performers was Julian Madolora, who achieved an impressive five Grade 9s, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics, alongside two Grade 8s and one Grade 7. He is now planning to continue his education at Oldham Sixth Form College, studying A-levels.

Another high-achieving student, Oliver Pemberton, secured five Grade 9s, including top grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, as well as one Grade 8, two Grade 7s and one Grade 6. Oliver will move on to Rochdale Sixth Form College, where he intends to study Maths, Further Maths and Economics.

Millie Hughes also had plenty to celebrate after achieving two Grade 9s, five Grade 8s and two Grade 6s. She is planning to continue her studies at Oldham Sixth Form to take the next step towards her future career ambitions.

Meanwhile, Julienne Madolora earned five Grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, English, History and Physics, alongside two Grade 8s and a Grade 7. She will also continue on to Oldham Sixth Form College to study A-levels.

Mickey-Lee Wilson-Wright achieved a strong set of results, including a Grade 9 in Mathematics, two Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and three Grade 6s. He, too, is set to join Oldham Sixth Form College in September.

‘An absolute credit to the academy’ 

The results day celebrations reflected five years of hard work and perseverance for students who have navigated their GCSE studies while overcoming the challenges and pressures that come with preparing for crucial examinations.

Paying tribute to the Year 11 students, Executive Headteacher Gemma Cottingham said:

“Today is about celebrating the dedication and effort of our Year 11 students. We are so incredibly proud of the way they have approached their learning and the achievements they have worked so hard for. 

“It has been wonderful to celebrate this moment with them, they are an absolute credit to our academy, and we wish them every success as they move on to their next steps.”

The academy’s achievements were also recognised by E-ACT chief executive Tom Campbell, who praised students, families and staff for their collective efforts.

“Congratulations to all students at E-ACT Royton & Crompton Academy receiving their GCSE results today,” he commented. 

“These achievements reflect the hard work of students and the support they have received from staff, families and the wider community. We are proud of their determination and look forward to seeing what they achieve in the future.”
