An inquest into Will’s death was opened at Heywood Coroner’s Court on Thursday, January 30.

It was adjourned for a full inquest until July 15, with the hearing expected to last half a day.

Mourners wore colour to celebrate the life of the former Rushcroft Primary and Royton and Crompton Secondary School pupil.

Jen Buckley, who organised the fundraising, said: “An unbelievably sad day but one surrounded by family, Will’s friends, you were amazing. The shots were such a lovely moment.”

Will died on the morning of Friday, January 17. Floral tributes were placed on the platform in memory of the Hopwood Hall College student.

He was the eldest of Michelle and Chris Cooke’s four children, a brother to James, Callum and Alicia.
